Faith That’s Demonstrated With Action

Wednesday, July 1, 2020 By Scott F. Thomas

“O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it and he will rescue us from your hand O king.” Daniel 3:16

Daniel chapter three tells the story of three Hebrews who refused to submit themselves to an edict that was against God’s will. After receiving a command to worship a gold statue King Nebuchadnezzar erected, they refused and were sentenced to being cast into the fiery furnace. Their allegiance was to God alone and they believed that God would deliver them from their fate. Yet even if He did not, they remained firm and refused to worship any other god than the one true God. God honored their faithfulness by protecting and delivering them from the furnace. The three Hebrews did not have faith that was established in talk alone. Their faith was demonstrated with action by trusting God even if it meant losing their lives.

Our faith must not only be faith that is spoken with words, it must also be demonstrated with action.

Otherwise it isn’t faith at all it’s merely wind and noise. God wants us to trust him when He promises to handle our problems and believe he will change our circumstances. Trust is not revealed in what we say but what we do. When we do what God says regarding His promises He will meet our request. When God says that vengeance is His, and we say we trust God but seek revenge, God will not operate on our behalf. However, when we wait on God to bring justice against those who have offended us He will bring justice in His time. If we desire to see God work miracles in our lives we must demonstrate our faith with action not words alone.

Faith is not talk, it’s walk. A walking faith is real faith not a talking faith. I encourage us all, to not only be a “talkers” of faith but be “walkers” of faith. In this way we will see God work miracles above what we can imagine.

May the grace and peace of God be with you.
