“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be wear; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
The year 2020 has been a challenge for us all. Initially, it was off to a great start especially for us who live in Kansas City. In February the Kansas City Chiefs made history by appearing in and winning it’s first Super Bowl in fifty years. Our city was so excited as we celebrated this long awaited accomplishment. However as we approached the month of March we experienced another historical event: The Covid 19 Pandemic. It was something that not only affected our city but our entire country. The Covid 19 caused our government to enforce laws that closed businesses and churches, demanded social distancing while in public, and a stay at home order that confined us to our communities. We are now three months in it, it isn’t over and we are all tired. We are tired of being socially disconnected, not able to worship God together, not feeling safe in public, and even having a family function in our homes. Truthfully, we all wish we could have a 2020 “do over” so it would come to an end.
Now is the time to be reminded to wait on The Lord. Waiting on the Lord doesn’t remove the challenges we have faced in 2020. It is not a 2020 “do over”. God has His reasons for allowing all of this and it will continue until He sees fit to bring change. Waiting on the Lord is trusting Him, the one who is in complete control of all things, to help us through it all. When we wait on the Lord our strength is renewed, we are able to rise above the circumstances, and we gain hope. Our hope is in God, our caretaker who loves us, keeps us safe, and will help us daily.
God is all knowing and has all power. He is still in control of our world. He loves His children and will always be with us. Do not fret like those who have no hope. Remember to wait on the Lord and place your hope in Him. He will strengthen you and bring you through.
God’s Grace and Peace be with you.
