WHAT WE BELIEVE

The Scriptures

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, is infallible and inerrant and is the final authority regarding all matters of faith and practice.  2 Tim. 3:16 – 17.

God

We believe in the one true living God that is self – existent, who reveals himself through His creation, and who has ultimate dominion over all things. Gen. 1:1, Matt. 28:19 – 20.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ died on a cross and shed his blood in order to pay for the sin of all.  We believe that he is the only way to God and the only means to achieving Eternal Life.

Man and Sin

We believe man was created by and in the image of God Genesis 1:26 – 27.  His choice to disobey God caused the entire Human Race to be sinful, Rom. 5:12. We believe sin is the disobedience of God’s law 1 John 3:4.  It is not only an act but a condition that mankind inherited from Adam, Rom. 5:12.  All men are born sinful because of Adam’s sin (Rom. 5:12); and the consequence of Adam’s sin has affected man’s relationship with God (John 15:5, 1 John 1:6-7). We believe that the only remedy for sin is the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ

Salvation

We believe Salvation is the work of God through his son Jesus Christ whereby the believing sinner is delivered from sin and the judgment to come (Rom. 10:9; Rom. 5:8 – 11).  We believe that Jesus Christ is the only way the lost sinner can come to God, John 14:6.

VISION AND MISSION

Our Vision at Starlight is to equip God’s people to be committed followers of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 4:11 – 14; 2 Timothy 3:16 – 17).  Christians live in a world that poses many challenges and distractions.  We are inundated with desires and ideas that get us off course in our commitment to Christ.  Starlight’s purpose is to help people get placed in our church where they are able to develop to be Godly and grow in their commitment to Him.  We have three main goals:

Outreach

We desire to reach believers and unbelievers in our community and surrounding communities and lead them to a relationship with Christ.  (Matt. 28:19 – 20; Luke 14:21 – 23; Acts 1:8)

Fellowship

We desire to connect people to our church, help them establish relationships with one another and work toward unity and oneness.  We desire to worship together, serve together, give together, and share in one another’s struggles and adversities, as well as triumphs and successes (Matthew 28:19 – 20;

1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 5:21; Philippians 2:1 – 4).

Education

We desire to teach the Bible so we may learn together and gain a better understanding about God’s ways and will for us.  We desire to have renewed minds, changed hearts and lives, as we are filled with the Holy Spirit.

(Matthew 28:19 – 20; 2 Timothy 2:15;

Romans 12:1 – 2; Ephesians 5:18)

We desire to become mature Christians who are devoted to God and are operating in oneness because we are being trained to be Godly (Ephesians 4:11 – 13; 1 Timothy 4:7).  We are learning God’s Word, living a sanctified life to Him, not blown about by every teaching inconsistent with the Bible, supporting our church, loving our neighbors, and sharing our faith with others as we wait for Christ to return for us.
